Youth Villages Partners with HealthyHere to Offer Mobile Medical Clinic to Employees
Mobile clinic provides on-site healthcare for staff at Youth Villages

(Memphis, TN) - Youth Villages recently partnered with HealthyHere, a mobile medical clinic, to provide annual physicals, primary care, and follow-up care to the nonprofit’s staff. The HealthyHere mobile clinics are fully outfitted with portable ultrasound machines, a private area in the vehicle dedicated to physical exams, and the equipment necessary for performing on-board lab work and biometric measurements.

Debby Williamson, wellness coordinator for Youth Villages, notes that staff found the mobile clinic an efficient way to get health checkups.

“The mobile clinic allows an employee to have their annual checkup in as little as 30 minutes as opposed to the many hours it can take for a traditional doctor’s office visit,” says Williamson. “In addition, the employee feedback shows that our staff appreciate the convenience, are comfortable with the HealthyHere staff and would recommend the mobile clinic to a coworker.”

Williamson also points out the value of privacy. “HealthyHere communicates directly with the team members to schedule appointments – and any results or paperwork are sent directly to the employee,” she notes. “In addition, HealthyHere sends a reminder five minutes before their appointment, ensuring the mobile clinic serves as many staff as possible while on site.”

With 1,500 employees in the Memphis area, Youth Villages has HealthyHere on site over a multi-day period each quarter. This way, staff may make appointments for the dates and times that work best within their schedule, with follow up appointments scheduled every six months – or sooner if needed.

“The program has been so successful that there are plans to expand it soon,” says Williamson. “We have recently had the mobile clinic come to our operations center and one of our residential facilities, and we are looking to schedule it for our community-based staff in the future.”

She goes on to note that, “Youth Villages is committed to the health and wellness of our staff.  The mobile clinic allows us to offer convenient access to care.”

Dr. Bill West, founder of HealthyHere, agrees. “A recent Harvard Medical School study shows that a typical visit to a traditional doctor’s office takes around two hours,” says West. “Travel time and waiting take up the vast majority of the patient’s time, with only about twenty minutes spent face to face with the physician. The average individual utilizing our mobile clinic can have their physical performed in 25 percent of the time it would normally take to have one performed in a traditional doctor’s office. Since annual physicals are key to one’s health, providing greater access to them is central to our mission.”

Annual physicals are one of the best methods for understanding physical health and curtailing any issues before they become life threatening.

Some of the positive changes that Youth Villages hopes to achieve as a result of this partnership include:

  • More team members participating in regular preventative, primary care and follow up visits.
  • Better prevention, early detection and management of chronic illness such as diabetes and hypertension.
  • A decrease in overall expenditure on pharmaceuticals.
  • Enhanced health and wellness of their team members.
