MIRACLE ON 34th STREET
Orpheum to Screen Christmas Classic Benefiting the Mid-South Food Bank

MEMPHIS, TN –  The Orpheum Theatre Group will once again join forces with the Memphis arts community in the 2nd annual Midsouth Arts Against Hunger food drive benefiting the Mid-South Food Bank. Patrons that donate at least one non-perishable item through the Orpheum Theatre or Halloran Centre for Performing Arts & Education will receive a voucher for free admission to see the 1947 classic Miracle on 34th Street in the historic Orpheum Theatre on Wednesday, December 20th at 7pm.

The Midsouth Arts Against Hunger campaign was created by Veronica Batterson, the wife of Orpheum Theatre Group President & CEO, Brett Batterson.

“Last year, Memphians donated almost two tons of canned goods through the Orpheum and Halloran Centre,” said Veronica Batterson, Founder of the Midsouth Arts Against Hunger food drive. “We hope patrons will join us again this holiday season for Miracle on 34th Street while supporting an incredible cause.”

This timeless holiday classic continues to charm audiences with its uplifting story. When a nice old man who claims to be Santa Claus is institutionalized as insane, a young lawyer decides to defend him by arguing in court that he is the real thing. Rated G. Arrive early to take a photo with Santa at the Orpheum photo booth.

Donations of non-perishable food items will be collected at the Orpheum’s downtown box office and Halloran Centre lobby Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm, starting today and continuing through December 20th. Donations can also be made during all public Orpheum events and on the night of the event to receive a free ticket.

Doors open at 6pm. Admission is free with food donation or $5 cash only at the Orpheum’s downtown box office. For more information, call 901.525.3000 or visit orpheum-memphis.com.
