The Recording Academy® has elected Emmy-nominated producer, educator, and entrepreneur Ty Boyland to its Memphis Chapter Board of Governors, marking a decisive step in elevating the city’s creative economy and cultural legacy. His appointment comes as the chapter intensifies efforts to widen professional pipelines, modernize industry standards, and ensure that Memphis’ distinctive sound remains a driving force on the global stage.

Through Ty Boyland Consulting LLC, Ty will integrate strategic planning, AI-powered music solutions, and contract-readiness training into chapter initiatives, giving regional creators the business acumen and technological edge required to thrive. Simultaneously, his Music Production classroom at Crosstown High will serve as a living lab where students dissect Grammy-level projects, experiment with emerging production tools, and gain firsthand exposure to Recording Academy programs, equipping them with both artistic proficiency and a working knowledge of industry infrastructure.

As a Governor, Ty will concentrate on advocacy that secures equitable funding, expands grant access, and creates new showcases for under-represented artists across Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, and the wider Mid-South. Planned community collaborations include tech-forward songwriting camps, mentorship hubs linking veteran and emerging talent, and policy outreach aimed at fair creator compensation. His multifaceted role underscores a unified mission: to move Memphis music forward by blending innovation, education, and relentless community engagement.
