What does a day as a Community Engagement Specialist look like?

As a Community Engagement Specialist, it is safe to say that no day will look exactly the same! In this position, you are tasked with taking the credit union out into the community. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Contacting and developing business with current Employer Partners through promotions, open enrollments, employee meetings, and new employee orientation programs.   Developing and maintaining these relationships and creating solutions for our Employer Partners.
  • Conducting outreach and acting as liaison between community organizations and employers that support the local community.
  • Create and present financial education content.
  • Create and cultivate relationships with prospective Employer Partners.
  • Coordinating events within the community.
  • Represents the credit union at various functions within the community.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.

What is the schedule?  Leaders Credit Union is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.  On Saturdays we are open limited locations from 9:00am to 1:00pm.  On office days, this position is 8:00am to 5:00pm.  However, there is significant community involvement with this role.   This means there will be some early mornings, late evenings, and attendance of events on weekends.   Sometimes giving top-notch member service may require a little overtime, but we value work-life-balance and do our best to limit this.

 

Does your skillset and experience line up?  For this role, we are looking for someone who:

  • Has 3 to 5 years of similar or related experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree
  • Must be comfortable creating presentations and presenting in front of large groups.
  • Must have very strong communication (written and verbal) skills with the ability to explain decisions and reasoning behind those decisions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Products (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.)
  • Must maintain a professional, courteous, and friendly atmosphere for members and co-workers
  • Must maintain a working knowledge of the credit union’s loan standards and governmental regulations.
