Event Description:
Back for an 11th year on South Main, RiverArtsFest 2017 will open Friday, October 27 and run through Sunday, October 29. As in years’ past, the festival will feature juried fine art for sale, live music, food and beverages, art demonstrations, and hands-on activities. Orion FCU is the presenting sponsor.

This year’s entertainment offerings again include the Rockin’ River Arts Show generously sponsored by the Downtown Memphis Commission and the South Main Association. This free concert event on Friday evening will feature music by the CODY DICKINSON PROJECT with THE WAR AND TREATY. The event is free and opens at 6:30 p.m. More than 80 booths in the Artists Market are expected to be open; food and beverages will be for sale.

In addition to the Friday night concert, REG Entertainment has planned more than 40 acts for RiverArtsFest’s three stages, as well as lively and popular street performers.

Festival dates and hours are:
• Friday, October 27, 6-10 pm, FREE, Rockin’ River Arts Show, special event by Downtown Memphis Commission and South Main Association.
• Saturday, October 28, 10 am to 6 pm, $5 per person
• Sunday, October 29, 10 am to 5 pm, $5 per person

Children 10 and under are free all three days. Festival patrons will be stamped to allow for come/go access for the day’s event; designated South Main residents and businesses will receive wristbands for the weekend.

NOTE: As the 2017 Race for the Cure will take place downtown on Saturday, race participants will receive free admission to RiverArtsFest on both Saturday and Sunday by presenting their race bibs.

The largest fine arts festival in the Mid-South, approximately 25,000 people attended last year’s event held in late October 2016. The festival takes place downtown on South Main, and there is ample parking available in the area. The 2017 RiverArtsFest will feature:

• Artists Market with more than 180 juried fine artists from across the country. Market features painting, photography, ceramics, glass, wearable art, toys, jewelry, and more.
• 2017 Festival Poster by artist Beth Edwards, available for sale at the Art Center in Midtown, 1910 Frame Works and Gallery, Flashback, Frame Corner, Inc., L Ross Gallery as well as at the festival itself.
• RiverArtsFest Invitational Art Exhibit at ANFA, 1500 Union Avenue. Exhibit open through November 3; gallery hours 8 am to 5 pm. Works by Karen Bottle Capps, Eli Gold, Terry Lynn, Maggie Russell, Judy Vandergrift, along with poster artist Beth Edwards, will be on display.
• “Art Bars” will be stationed strategically throughout the festival, offering a full bar.
• Hands on Art, a station for artists of all ages to express their creative energies. Previous years’ projects decorate the festival sponsored by the Art Center.
• Artist in Motion stations featuring demonstrations on papermaking, wheel pottery, watercolor painting, woodturning, fused glass, metal sculpture and more.
• Excellent food and beverage vendors, including beer and wine for sale
• Special art exhibits and offerings in the galleries and shops of South Main.
