There are over 30 million Americans with chronic kidney disease and less than 1 in 10 know they have it. In Memphis, the rates of kidney disease are higher rate than the national average. The main two causes are of kidney disease are (1) diabetes and (2) high blood pressure. Due to this fact, on Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 12 noon - 5:00 pm at Handy Park, the American Kidney Fund will host the first Kidney Action Day (KAD) in Memphis, TN. The purpose of the community-based initiative to educate about the community about the function of the kidneys, risk factors for kidney disease, and steps to take to keep kidneys healthy.This is a free family-friendly event and open to the community.
